This is more than a sterile processing role. You'll serve as a key leader on the evening shift, helping manage daily operations, supporting team development, and ensuring instrument availability for the next day's surgical cases. What You'll Do
As a Lead Sterile Processing Technician, you will:
- Lead evening shift operations and help oversee departmental workflow in the absence of leadership.
- Coordinate the flow of instruments through decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution.
- Serve as a trusted liaison between Sterile Processing and the Operating Room to ensure seamless support of surgical services.
- Train, mentor, and onboard new team members while promoting continuous learning and professional development.
- Assist with staffing assignments and workflow management to meet daily operational demands.
- Troubleshoot and maintain sterilization and decontamination equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor sterilization parameters and quality control processes to maintain compliance and patient safety.
- Support inventory management, instrument tracking, specialty tray maintenance, and case cart preparation.
- Collaborate on process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce instrument errors, and improve service delivery.
- Serve as a resource for staff, physicians, and internal customers by providing guidance and operational support.

- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Two years of central sterile processing experience required.
- OR Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing program with two years of central sterile processing experience required.
- Annual Project Required.
- Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
- Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association. Certification required in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded).
