The Real Estate Appraisal Reviewer position with the Department of Transportation provides an exciting way to grow your skills in a specialized field. This position focuses on reviewing real estate appraisals and providing technical guidance that supports right-of-way efforts for transportation projects. It ensures that appraisal practices meet required standards across an assigned geographic area. As a Real Estate Appraisal Reviewer, you will perform the following duties:

Appraisal Review: Evaluate real estate appraisals, machinery, and equipment appraisals submitted for right of way use
Technical Guidance: Provide direction to ensure appraisal techniques and requirements are followed
Damage Evaluation: Determine compensable elements related to property values and estimated damages
Document Tracking: Maintain records, generate monthly reports, and support right of way office needs
Meeting Participation: Attend discussions and training sessions related to appraisal practices
Special Assignments: Complete delegated tasks and support additional review activities as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position will be headquartered in the Central Office Harrisburg or at a district office nearest to the employee's home that has available space. The incumbent in this position floats across a region, with office space assigned within an appropriate geographical area.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a General Real Estate Appraiser (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Three years of professional real estate appraisal experience which includes one year appraising all types of real property for public use.

Special Requirements:

All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Certified General Appraiser certification.
All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
