This role focuses on providing daily non-professional nursing care to residents in their living areas while supporting licensed staff. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Resident Support: Assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, mobility, and meal needs
• Safety Measures: Apply safety devices and report hazards or unusual behavior to supervisory staff
• Health Monitoring: Gather information such as vital signs, height, and weight and share observations with nursing personnel
• Room Care: Maintain resident rooms through organization, cleanliness, and preparation for new admissions
• Documentation: Record care activities accurately to meet regulatory and facility requirements
• Equipment Handling: Transport residents safely and ensure proper use of wheelchairs, stretchers, and other devices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time employment (40 hours biweekly)
• The following shifts are available, working every other weekend, with a 30-minute lunch:
  • 1st Shift (6:45 AM to 3:15 PM) 
  • 2nd Shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM)
  • 3rd Shift (10:45 PM to 07:15 AM)
• DMVA is pleased to announce the Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania’s veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: 

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
