UPMC Corporate Health Services is seeking Registered Nurses to join our Virtual Care Center team!
This is an onsite position located in Pittsburgh PA within Oakland. Registered Nurses in this role will work a rotating schedule that may include weekends and holidays. Shifts consist of three 12-hour shifts per week, with schedules available from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
The RN utilizes advanced clinical judgment, technology, and communication skills to assess, monitor, and support patients remotely while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient care delivery. Leads virtual care innovation, promotes patient engagement, and supports system-level goals related to access, quality, and patient experience.

Responsibilities:
- Utilizes multiple remote patient monitoring systems and digital health platforms to monitor patient status, identify trends and changes in patient condition, implement priority interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Interprets data from various sources while integrating findings into clinical decision-making.
- Conducts comprehensive remote assessments, including patient interviews, symptom evaluation, and review of remotely transmitted health data.
- Develops individualized plans of care and collaborates with patients and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal outcomes.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within the electronic health record, demonstrating proficiency in EHR navigation, order review, care documentation, and communication workflows to ensure continuity of care across settings.
- Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to deliver high-quality virtual care. Utilizes effective communication skills to articulate the patient's condition to other care providers.
- Consistently identifies and intervenes in noted changes in patient condition.
- Serves as a patient advocate by recommending evidence-based interventions to optimize patient outcomes. Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of patients’ clinical and psychosocial needs.
- Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and operational improvement in virtual care delivery.
- Applies evidence-based practice and participates in initiatives that enhance patient care, safety, and access.
- Serves as a role model of professional nursing practice, demonstrating leadership in virtual care delivery, clinical expertise, education, and innovation. Participates in peer review, shared governance, and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance virtual nursing practice.
- Creates therapeutic relationships with patients and families in a virtual environment, demonstrating empathy, cultural awareness, and patient-centered care. Demonstrates cultural awareness and supports a respectful and collaborative workplace.
- Maintains an appropriate balance between work responsibilities and demonstrates a passion for developing others by mentoring and supporting new staff in the application of virtual nursing practices.
- Seeks feedback and engages in continuous professional development. Serves in an experienced nurse consultation role.
- Minimum four (4) years recent relevant clinical experience required.
- BSN required.
- Working onsite is required.
- ICU, ED, or prior virtual nursing experience preferred.
- Recent experience as a RN with adult patients in an inpatient setting preferred.
- Virtual RN experience preferred.
- National Certification preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in navigating, documenting, and managing workflows within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Ability to effectively utilize and monitor multiple remote patient monitoring platforms and digital health technologies simultaneously.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Registered Nurse (RN) in PA
*CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
