Purpose:
Performs repairs and installations to a variety of hardware, equipment, structural and surface materials in accordance with diagrams, plans, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications.
Responsibilities:
 

  • Perform repairs and installation of wood, metal and plastic laminate items to include shelving, cabinets, tables, counters, wall bumpers and doors.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Smooth and removes old paint; fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty or other filler to prepare surfaces for sealer, primers or finish coat.
  • Fill out work tickets with the appropriate information.
  • Maintain the necessary personal tools to carry out craft duties and keeps tools in a safe and reliable condition.
  • Combine lock cores and keys.
  • Remove and install new and existing equipment as directed.
  • Order necessary parts and material through the established procedures.
  • Install and repair a variety of door hardware and equipment.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
  • Oversee and directs laborers when assigned to assist.
  • Update plans and drawings as required to reflect work carried out.
  • Perform repairs as needed to walls from ongoing work and to decorate/protect areas.
  • Document work functions for regulatory agencies through the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Size and engrave signage in accordance with diagrams and specifications.
  • Assist the other crafts in completing their duties.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits.

Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through high school and advanced technical school.Three years carpentry experience required in order to:Knowledge of carpentry procedures.Working knowledge of equipment and building systems.Acquire suitable analytical and interpersonal skills.Successful demonstration of the completion of the competencies required by the department/unit.This individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department's policy and procedures.Understand and comply with oral and written instructions.Analytical skills necessary to perform lock, hardware and cabinet repairs.Equipped to evaluate malfunctioning conditions against verifiable or judgmental criteria as shown in blueprints and installation instructions.Ability to operate power equipment.Ability to apply paint on surfaces.Ability to read blueprints and specifications.Ability to make comparisons and discriminations when cutting, fitting, and assembling components and connections to achieve a smooth near finish.Ability to work with tools, making connections and assembling components.Ability to perform a variety of activities according to specific assignments.Ability to resolve routine problems and refer difficult or unusual problems to the Assistant Director.Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and cooperate with various levels of Hospital personnel, physicians and patients to complete work in occupied areas in a tactful and courteous ma
