This position supports the upkeep and repair of buildings, grounds, and systems at Fort Indiantown Gap. It involves a mix of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general maintenance tasks. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Carpentry Work: Install ceilings, walls, flooring, windows, doors, insulation, and other structural components
  • Plumbing Tasks: Repair and replace sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, valves, drains, and related fixtures
  • Painting Duties: Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and apply interior and exterior finishes
  • Electrical Repairs: Install and replace switches, receptacles, ballasts, and lighting components
  • Grounds Maintenance: Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, plant flowers, and maintain outdoor areas
  • Safety Practices: Follow occupational safety rules and report or correct hazards in the work area

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.


Additional Requirements:
  • You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Formal training in skilled building construction, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as they relate to repair of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steamfitting and pipefitting, refrigeration and HVAC, painting, roofing and tinsmithing, drywall and plasterer work, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)
