The role includes vehicle operation, grounds work, and tasks that ensure safe, productive work areas. As an Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Operation: Operate single chassis vehicles and equipment for transporting personnel, hauling materials, and supporting maintenance activities
- Road and Trail Work: Operate equipment to build, modify, and rebuild roads, trails, and target range layouts
- Construction Activities: Perform demolition of structurally deficient buildings, complete drainage improvements, conduct underground utility work, and assist with airfield construction and maintenance
- Specialized Operations: Perform hydro-excavating for utility locating and support biosolid spreading across assigned areas
- Equipment Operation: Operate military and civilian equipment with a gross vehicle weight between 10,001 and 32,000 pounds or more to support construction and maintenance needs
- Technical Maintenance: Assist mechanics, perform minor equipment repairs, and carry out preventative maintenance on assigned machinery
- Safety and Communication: Follow proper safety procedures, use required protective gear, and maintain proper radio communication with airfield and range control

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) permit at the time of hire. (Once you are hired, the agency will send you to classes for a Class A CDL that you must obtain within 6 months after hire.)
- You must pass favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's Permit
- Possession of Class A or B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with restrictions
- Possession of a valid Class B Pennsylvania driver's license with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed
- Experience operating wheeled/tract front-end loaders
- Experience with snow removal
- Experience with grass cutting using a large tractor with a gang-mower attachment
