Unique inpatient dietitian position with a focus on TPN order writing and monitoring.

Job Summary:
UPMC Presbyterian is a large teaching hospital located in Oakland, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh. We care for a variety of adult patients, including Transplant, Trauma, Cardiac, and Neurology- just to name a few! As a part of the TPN Safety Team, you will provide advanced level nutrition expertise by working with a multidisciplinary team to write TPN orders. When not rotating with this team, you will work with our skillful team of Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians to provide quality nutrition care to hospitalized patients. Working Hours: 40 hours per week with flexible start time, rotating weekends and holidays

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct patient care using Medical Nutrition Therapy to assess patients and develop goals and a plan of care.
  • Formulate a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
  • Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units & participate as a member of interdisciplinary committees and projects.
  • Mentor and train dietetic students, interns, and new personnel.
  • Lead at least one annual department, facility, or system-based initiative or quality improvement activity through to completion annually

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics with 4 years of clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian.

OR

  • Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics with 3 years clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN)
  • Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)
  • Act 34
