The Corrections Food Service Instructor for the Department of Corrections is a role where you guide inmate workers in preparing meals that support daily facility operations. This position leads inmate workers in preparing meals, maintaining sanitary kitchen conditions, and supporting daily food service operations at the facility. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Instruction: Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, and bake meals according to established recipes
- Safety Practices: Guide inmates in the safe and sanitary use, cleaning, and storage of kitchen tools and equipment
- Area Inspection: Inspect food service areas, supplies, and equipment to ensure compliance with sanitation standards
- Supply Management: Receive, store, and rotate food items while following first-in, first-out procedures
- Work Supervision: Plan work assignments, review inmate performance, and maintain required records
- Custody Oversight: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during all work activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment - 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This is shift work with pass days off to be determined. Shifts are awarded based on bidding and seniority.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
