OVERVIEW:
The Manager of Reverse Logistics & Operations will be responsible for the strategic development of the company's returns, damage and defective programs, and vendor claims, as well as the Reverse Logistics system used by the DC RTV teams and various CSC teams. This individual will manage and work collaboratively with other internal DSG departments that manage Returns to Vendors, to include Logistics, Merchandising, Planning & Allocations, Store Operations, Ecommerce, Inventory Control, Loss Prevention, Finance and Legal Teams. This position will provide supervision and operational guidance to the tactical processes of the Returns team on vendor claims, damage/defective products and return to stock(allocation claims). The Manager of Reverse Logistics and Operations will work with our Domestic Vendors, salvage partners. Merchants, Inventory Control, Loss Prevention, Product Development, Risk and Distribution Center Teams to drive operational improvements and communication for all Dick's Sporting Goods initiatives. This teammate will work with CSC and DC IT teams to prioritize and drive enhancements of various reverse and Business Intelligence systems to improve efficiency at the CSC and DCs and maintain open communication on various projects related to vendors and DC operations for the improvement of supply chain initiatives.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop programs to drive a $2M budget of Misc. Income thru salvage contract negotiation and utilizing all areas of the supply chain
Negotiate company driven salvage opportunities that include special projects and various other inventory overstock issues within the business and legal restrictions put forth by DSG & partners.
Continuously review the department organization throughout the Returns team at CSC to drive operational efficiency, communication, consistency with our internal and external partners and shrink prevention thru process review.
Design and plan salvage and returns programs to support supply chain objectives. Continuously review, present and act upon new opportunities and analyze data to improve business functions.
Drive improved efficiency and productivity of returns operations team by working internally with DSG partners and the vendor base in order to provide savings and add value to the company.
Maintain contact with all business relationships within Merchandising and Planning, Allocation departments to drive new programs and controls for all groups to provide a consistent and effective execution that include relief of vendor claims of approx. 5M units per year as well as rebalancing inventory across the DC and store network of approx. 1M units per year
Development of people within their teams to grow in leadership skills and job skills to allow for succession planning across the company and improve teammate satisfaction within organization.
Develop and manage hanger process to include procurement events as necessary for pricing, payment of hanger invoices, management of questions/requests from vendors regarding hangers, recycle process and income for hangers returned from stores - $337k.
Supervision:
Manage a staff of 1 Assistant Manager of Reverse Logistics, 1 Reverse Logistics Analyst , and 1 Reverse Logistics Assistant
Indirectly manage a staff of 100+ associates within DCs related to Returns and to ensure process accuracy and consistency.
Travel to DC's with Asst Manager of Returns Operations as well as conduct virtual meetings to support Returns staff and DC operations.
Be accountable for the Returns Team at the CSC including the process within the CSC for department training, support and people development.
Develop and drive operational objectives for Returns projects related to process accuracy, Standard Operating Procedures, store and process exceptions, and efficiency within the supply chain as they develop.
Responsible for establishing priorities, goals and work flows, as well as creating standards for Domestic Vendors and publish of Domestic Routing Guide with updates as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
5-7 years experience in Supply Chain
Previous management experience preferred.
Previous experience with reverse logistics preferred.
Previous experience with contractual negotiations is preferred.
Ability to drive projects & manage project teams
Process & procedure oriented
Superior organizational abilities
