This position leads custodial and laundry operations that support a clean and safe environment for the Southeastern Veterans' Center. You oversee staff, maintain supplies, and ensure all work meets required standards for safety and sanitation. As a Custodial Work Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Assign tasks, oversee custodial and laundry work, and adjust schedules as needed
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure staff follow federal and state cleaning rules, safety practices, and proper handling of materials
  • Training Support: Provide instruction, conduct meetings, and encourage positive working relationships
  • Facility Inspection: Review completed work and identify needed corrections or improvements
  • Supply Management: Maintain records, requisition supplies, and ensure adequate linen and equipment
  • Administrative Duties: Participate in hiring, performance reviews, leave approval, and discipline

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (6:30 AM to 2:30 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Custodial Worker 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience performing custodial work.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital is preferred. This experience may include cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; and performing tasks such as mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, or buffing.

Legal Requirements: 

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
