This position supports daily food preparation, service, and sanitation responsibilities that keep the kitchen operating efficiently. It plays an important part in providing safe, nutritious meals for individuals at Ebensburg Center. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare, portion, and pack food items by following recipes, counts, and established instructions
  • Meal Service: Operate food service equipment, portion meals, prepare trays, and transport carts to service locations
  • Sanitation Tasks: Clean and sanitize dishware, equipment, work areas, and dining spaces according to posted schedules
  • Supply Handling: Load and unload food deliveries, issue supplies, and organize tray labels when assigned
  • Equipment Use: Follow safety instructions while using kitchen appliances, tools, and dish room machinery
  • General Support: Assist with storage, meetings, and other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotating days off and a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualification (not required):

  • Generalized food production or service experience in an institutional setting, such as a hospital or nursing home.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
