This position involves hands-on repair and maintenance work that keeps the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center operating smoothly. The role covers a wide range of tasks that support the function and upkeep of facility buildings and equipment. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Carpentry Work: Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing doors and furniture, fabricating partitions, and using power tools
- Electrical Repairs: Install and repair electrical circuits, outlets, lighting fixtures, fans, and motors
- Plumbing Tasks: Repair plumbing fixtures, clear clogged drains, and install pipe for water and steam lines
- Building Comfort Maintenance: Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration units of various types
- Groundskeeping Work: Cut grass, trim shrubbery, perform landscaping tasks, and clear snow and debris from outdoor areas
- Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures, report hazards, maintain tools, and support facility quality improvement efforts

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
- Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
- Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Experience repairing heating lines and fan coil units
- Experience in plumbing repairs
- Experience in electrical repairs
- Experience maintaining and repairing air conditioning and heating units
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
