UPMC Shadyside is seeking an experienced Interventional Technologist Advanced (Multi-Skill) to join our highly skilled and collaborative Interventional Radiology team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside leading physicians, utilize advanced technology, and play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care.
Schedule & Team Structure
- Four 10-hour shifts: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM
- Overnight on-call responsibilities
- Rotating weekends and holidays
- Team of 8 technologists, with 2 technologists on call each night
What You'll Do:
As an Advanced Interventional Technologist, you'll serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert while supporting quality, safety, and operational excellence across the department. Responsibilities include:
- Partnering with system-wide workgroups to support standardization initiatives and best practices
- Assisting with fluoroscopy time monitoring, medical editing requests, and annual lead apron compliance reviews
- Demonstrating advanced knowledge of IR supplies, equipment, and procedural support
- Supporting quality assurance activities, regulatory testing, research, and technical initiatives
- Collaborating directly with Radiologists on protocol development and optimization
- Mentoring and training technologists, new staff, and students
- Functioning independently while supporting off-shift coverage, on-call responsibilities, and satellite locations as needed
- Performing all responsibilities of an Interventional Radiology Technologist I while serving as an advanced clinical resource

- Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology required.
- 2 years of experience required in primary specialty.
- Must hold registry in each specialty.
- Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Must maintain 2 imaging registries/certifications and maintain competency in both as required by hiring Business Unit.
- Must be willing and demonstrate flexibility to be assigned to any of the maintained registries by leadership.
- Must provide flexibility to work least one off-shift (evening, nights or weekend), every 90 days as requested by imaging leadership.
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Secondary registration in VI required or equivalent.
- ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 34
