This position focuses on providing direct service to families in need through assessments, guidance, and support. The work centers on helping children and caregivers maintain safety and stability in their daily lives. 
As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Direct Service: Conduct assessments and investigations for families
  • Case Management: Coordinate services and maintain documentation for each case
  • Child Placement: Assist with placing children into safe and supportive foster homes
  • Family Support: Provide counseling and guidance to children and caregivers
  • Community Visits: Carry out most responsibilities through home and community visits

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Position may require working beyond the regular workday hours to meet the needs of families.
  • Telework:  No telework for the first six (6) months of employment.  After an employee has completed six (6) months of employment and have regular status, there may be opportunities for hybrid work, per the program offices' hybrid schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
    Legal Requirements:
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
