This role supports children, adolescents, and families by coordinating services, assessing needs, and helping individuals build resilience within their communities. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Service Coordination: Arrange supports and connect consumers with helpful community resources
  • Needs Assessment: Gather intake information and determine service levels using required tools
  • Recovery Support: Encourage resiliency and guide individuals through behavioral health principles
  • Documentation Review: Evaluate treatment progress and maintain clear records with families and providers
  • Specialized Assistance: Apply training to support individuals with mental illness and developmental challenges
  • Team Leadership: Assist staff or interns when serving as a lead worker

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment; 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Often, irregular hours, including: evening and weekends may be required. Works on a rotating basis 24/7 once trained.
  • May have occasional overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

  • You must pass a background investigation. 
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. 

    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
