This position provides armed security services to protect personnel, visitors, facilities, and property at Fort Indiantown Gap. Your work supports the installation's safety and orderly operations. As an Armed Installation Security Officer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Security Patrols: Conduct armed patrols on foot or in a vehicle to maintain safety across the installation
  • Access Control: Manage entry points, operate barrier systems, and support visitor processing according to regulations
  • Incident Response: Report hazards or unusual activity and take appropriate action based on policy
  • Equipment Operation: Operate patrol vehicles, communication systems, alarm monitoring tools, closed circuit television systems, and related equipment
  • Coordination: Work with federal, state, county, and local law enforcement and emergency service providers
  • Documentation: Prepare security reports and maintain required logs and forms

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 5:30 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of security, law enforcement, or military experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
  • You must obtain active National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation within the probationary period and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must obtain active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certifications issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) as issued by the federal Department of Defense within the probationary period and maintain access for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must pass an initial and semiannual weapons qualification.
  • You must successfully complete all pre-employment and post-employment requirements in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56, The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program.
  • You must obtain active Pennsylvania Lethal Weapons Training Act (Act 235 of 1974) certification within the probationary period and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the probationary period and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of Act 235 certification, or willingness and ability to obtain Act 235 certification within 6 months of hire
