This position provides 24/7 coverage with opportunities to work day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts, offering flexible scheduling options including 4, 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts with typical start times of 8:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m., and 12:00 a.m. If you're passionate about advancing EMS care and want to be part of a team driving meaningful change, we encourage you to apply!
Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality patient care using established prehospital care protocols, clinical judgment, and advanced life support skills.
Serve as a resource, mentor, and preceptor for EMS providers and new staff members.
Develop and support continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and medical command services.
Build and maintain strong relationships with EMS agencies through outreach, clinical collaboration, and community engagement.
Participate in performance improvement activities, project work, committees, and community health initiatives.
Communicate effectively with patients, providers, command physicians, and interdisciplinary teams while maintaining accurate documentation.
Monitor equipment functionality, report issues appropriately, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and hospital policies
Provide feedback on patient care, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop corrective action plans when needed.
Demonstrate professionalism, strong problem-solving abilities, independent decision-making, and a positive representation of UPMC.
Meet regularly with EMS providers, support the ongoing development of the Paramedic Response Team, and contribute to innovative EMS programs and services.
Complete required education and training to maintain medical command and professional competencies.

High school diploma or equivalent.
3 years of experience in EMS or a BA Degree in Emergency Medicine required.
Paramedic, certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Prehospital training required.
Successful completion of mandatory education provided by UPMC Health System. Microcomputer experience preferred. Successful completion of basic information system training is mandatory. Professional verbal and written communication is essential. Customer service skills are essential.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Medic Command (currently employed on the Response Team) or eligibility to receive medic command (new hires) is required. Instructor certification in trauma life support, ACLS, BCLS, and PALS preferred.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
