Purpose:
The Senior Solutions Architect role requires deep technical expertise across at least two domains, such as software development, testing, security, cloud, integrations, Healthcare IT, or related disciplines. This position calls for a strategic thinker and influential leader who can connect technology strategy to business priorities across projects, department initiatives, Agile Release Trains, and supplier teams. The role defines best practices, policies, procedures, architectural standards, and technical documentation; guides proof-of-concept work; mentors' junior architects; and communicates a clear architectural vision that ensures solutions are scalable, secure, fit for purpose, and aligned to enterprise goals. This position strengthens Enterprise Solution Delivery by influencing cross-functional teams and aligning solution builders around a shared technical direction.
Responsibilities:
- Complexity of Work - Sets the strategic technical direction for the sub-function and leads the design, development, enhancement, and implementation of technology solutions across relevant domains. Evaluates emerging technologies, leads proof-of-concept efforts, advances technical solutions, manages non-functional and compliance requirements, maintains the architectural runway, and prioritizes enablers that support continuous delivery.
- Strategy & Innovation - Provides current and long-range technology direction to position the organization for change. Partners across customers, business partners, engineering teams, and sub-functions to influence outcomes, assess emerging technologies, recommend modernization opportunities, mentor others, and identify high-risk areas with practical resolution plans.
- Knowledge & Skill - Requires 10 years of software engineering or technical architecture experience, with the ability to lead and mentor individual contributors. Brings deep technical mastery and business knowledge across at least two relevant domains, such as APIs, UI, security, cloud, mobile, or DevOps. Applies broad experience to complex problems and demonstrates a strong understanding of IT strategy and its connection to business objectives.
- Scope of Influence - Influences the design and integration of technology domains related to the sub-function. Builds and leverages a strong internal and external expert network, serves as a trusted partner to key technologists and subject matter experts, and aligns stakeholders around architectural direction, solution quality, and technical priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience OR 14 years total relevant work experience.
- Holds deep technical mastery and business knowledge across multiple technology domains.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to combine broad technical, business, clinical and political factors.
- Has a broad background implementing different architectures to meet differing needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills and possesses good presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to direct the implementation of diverse technologies in a complex organization.
- Diplomacy and interpersonal skills to lead others to provide inputs for the purpose of sharing with customers, partners, and higher management on vision and need for key technologies.
- Demonstrated experiences innovating beyond the state of the art.
- Maximizing technical efficiency and setting technical direction.
Preferred Experience:
- Healthcare IT experience preferred.
- Holds and maintains relevant certification(s) - AWS/Azure Solution Architect/Engineer/Practitioner, FHIR, SCRUM etc. is a plus.
- Experience with AI architecture, Generative AI, or Agentic AI solution patterns, including AI-enabled workflows, orchestration, governance, and secure enterprise integration, is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
- Strong expertise in DevOps and CI/CD and scrum and SAFe.
- Experience with container technologies is a plus
- Understanding of microservice design and architectural patterns
