As the Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor for the Department of Human Services (DHS) at Torrance State Hospital, you take on a leadership role that supports care for patients with complex psychiatric and behavioral needs. This position oversees nursing care for forensic patients and supports safe, therapeutic treatment across multiple care areas. As a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Provide direction, evaluation and oversight of nursing staff in forensic care areas
  • Resource Support: Serve as a knowledgeable support for nursing teams, interdisciplinary partners, and patient support services
  • Environment Safety: Review and maintain a safe and therapeutic setting for patients and employees
  • Training Coordination: Guide staff development, orientation, and ongoing training programs
  • Performance Guidance: Coach staff, evaluate work performance, and support corrective action when needed
  • Information Management: Manage communication, records, reports, and patient care documentation

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
