This position focuses on repairing and maintaining automotive equipment and machinery used across Fort Indiantown Gap. It involves hands-on mechanical work that ensures dependable operation of a wide range of vehicles and equipment. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

  • Engine Repair: Perform major and minor repairs on gasoline and diesel engines
  • Equipment Service: Repair and maintain equipment such as backhoes, loaders, tractors, mowers, and generators
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Repair mechanical defects and replace parts including brakes, clutches, and transmissions
  • Diagnostic Testing: Test engines to identify causes of malfunction or mechanical failure
  • Safety Inspection: Inspect vehicles for proper safety and compliance with regulations
  • Record Keeping: Prepare repair records, maintenance reports, and parts requests

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a current and valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must obtain and maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
