UPMC Shadyside is seeking a Casual MRI Technologist to join our team!

Looking to grow your MRI career or pick up additional hours? This flexible PRN opportunity supports both the Shadyside MRI Department and Hillman Cancer Center, with varied shifts and schedules available. The role includes rotating on-call responsibilities, weekend coverage, and one holiday per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform MRI exams while maintaining clinical competency across all equipment and procedures.
  • Review patient histories, assess physician orders, and follow departmental protocols to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepare and administer contrast as appropriate and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate relevant clinical information to physicians prior to examinations.
  • Ensure exams are properly documented, coded, tracked, archived, and charged through departmental systems.
  • Maintain MRI safety standards and best practices at all times.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and fellow team members.
  • Process, review, and archive imaging studies.
  • Clearly explain procedures and provide instructions to patients, helping create a positive and comfortable experience.

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT or ARDMS program. 
  • ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date.  
  • MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained. 
  • CNMT, ARDMS and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date. 
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     
  • ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date.
  • MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
  • CNMT, RDMS and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date.
  • CPR or BLS Required.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • If working in a NY facility, you must have received certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and be Licensed through the New York State Department of Health.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
