About the Role
Talent Groups is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a highly technical team supporting major retail technology modernization initiatives. This is a hands on role within a startup like environment, with ownership across requirements, development, testing, and deployment.
Retail experience is highly preferred, particularly experience with POS, NCR platforms, or retail technology.
What You''ll Do
- Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications.
- Build REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Participate throughout the full SDLC.
- Support application modernization and migration initiatives.
- Troubleshoot production and development issues.
- Collaborate with architects and senior developers on technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and Agile development.
- Take ownership of projects with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional Java development experience.
- Strong Java 11, 17, or 21 experience.
- Strong Spring and Spring Boot experience.
- Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience.
- Microsoft Azure experience.
- Experience with Git and modern development practices.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Retail industry experience
- POS experience
- NCR platform experience
- Experience extending or customizing NCR platforms
- React and full stack development
- UI development or design experience
- Experience with application modernization or migration
- Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- Kafka, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, or Redis
