As an Automotive Mechanic, you will be supporting the safe and reliable operation of vehicles in the Commonwealth fleet through skilled maintenance and repair work. In this role, you will perform the following duties:
- Perform Maintenance: Complete preventive and corrective repairs on engines, brakes, suspension, cooling systems, electrical systems, and other components
- Conduct Inspections: Carry out State Safety and Emissions inspections and record required information on official forms
- Manage Parts: Coordinate needed parts with stock staff or obtain parts from vendors when necessary
- Operate Equipment: Use forklifts, wreckers, rollbacks, or similar equipment to move vehicles and supplies
- Repair Tools: Perform minor repairs on shop equipment to keep tools and machines in safe working condition
- Maintain Workspace: Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
- This position requires a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate at time of application.
