This position supports the daily operation of the Power House at Torrance State Hospital by helping maintain steam production and equipment performance. It plays an important part in ensuring reliable heat, hot water, and safe system operations. As a Utility Plant Helper, you will perform the following duties:
- Boiler Operation Assistance: Help operate boilers and related equipment to maintain steady steam production
- System Monitoring: Check gauges, record readings, and observe equipment performance during assigned shifts
- Water Treatment Tasks: Test boiler water and assist with chemical treatment procedures
- Maintenance Support: Assist with routine chores, equipment checks, and completion of preventive maintenance tasks
- Record Keeping: Log coal usage, update shift records, and document plant activities as required
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and report abnormal equipment functions to supervisors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday-Friday, with no unpaid meal break.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
