This position allows you to work directly with schools, educators, and industry partners to strengthen program standards. This position provides statewide leadership and support to career and technical education programs with a focus on improving quality and meeting established standards. It involves guiding policy, reviewing practices, and working with educators and partners to strengthen career and technical education (CTE) delivery. As a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Policy Leadership: Develop and maintain policies for trade and industrial education programs and recommend needed updates
  • Program Analysis: Review current CTE practices and offer improvements to support students, educators, and industry partners
  • CTE Development: Support the creation and upkeep of high-quality CTE systems and teacher preparation programs
  • Field Support: Lead workshops, visits, presentations, and written communication to assist statewide CTE initiatives
  • Technology Use: Share updates and resources through email, web tools, and distance learning platforms
  • Research Support: Create or analyze data that strengthens CTE quality and trade and industrial education practices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office at minimum one day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) in the same parenthetical; or
  • Five years of professional career and technical education experience in the area of the parenthetical, including two years in the development and implementation of specialized career and technical education curricula or programs; or
  • An equivalent combination of professional career and technical education experience and training in the area of the parenthetical, which includes two years in the development and implementation of specialized career and technical education curricula or programs.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires applicants to possess a minimum of two years of full-time professional career and technical education experience in a 9-12 or postsecondary school environment.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
