Role Responsibilities:

Support Merchandising Strategies and Financials

  • Responsible for achieving Sales, Margin and Turnover plans by creating, driving and ensuring execution of the merchandising strategies.

  • Build Visual Merchandising Strategy that will assist in meeting the sales, margin and turn objectives.

  • Analyze economic, financial, market, competitive/noncompetitive and industry data to assess current business strategies or identify future business opportunities.  Assume the customer's perspective and ensure merchandising strategies will meet customer needs (current and future).

  • Demonstrate a high level of analytical thinking and attention to detail with strong aptitude in business acumen, margin management and forecasting methodology; translate business analysis into strategic action plans and tactics. Merchandise Assortment Ownership and Pricing

  • Build, create & manage merchandise assortments, by category, through existing and new brands that align with market and consumer trends.  Assortment creation includes selecting and purchasing merchandise by considering type, quality, source, timing, delivery, mix, and promotions.  Managing assortments includes continual evaluation of pricing, demand, forecasting and product flow.

  • Develop and ensure execution regional marketing and pricing strategies to showcase the current assortment to drive customer traffic and increase sales.

Category Ownership and Consumer Insights

  • Manage, communicate and drive the vision for the category or categories of responsibility to ensure that span of control is rooted in analysis, trend awareness and consumer insights.

  • Identify and research new product that will enable the organization to achieve its short and long-term strategic, market share and revenue goals.  Integrate findings into seasonal strategies and quantify the size of the opportunity.

  • researching white space opportunities that align to the seasonal direction for the brand

  • Shop national and global DSG stores, as well as other comparative retail stores, to identify new trends and opportunities, evaluate merchandise mix, evaluate competition, and translate findings into executable product plans.

Developing Talent and Teammate Engagement

  • Build effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals by establishing common objectives and a shared mindset. 

  • Manage execution responsibilities and workload of direct reports to achieve department deliverables on time and with quality. 

  • Develops talent through coaching, feedback, exposure, and stretch assignments in order to meet their own career goals as well as the organization’s priorities 

  • Partner with department leadership to establish strategic staffing and succession plans; successfully deliver on proposed staffing objectives. 

  • Drive the talent selection process in alignment with the company’s talent philosophy for open direct reporting positions; Ensure all direct reports are appropriately trained and on-boarded. 

  • Drive engagement by creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives; focus on voice of teammate data (e.g., Engagement & Pulse results), partnering with organization leadership to drive necessary changes. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 4 year college degree or related experience

  • 7-10 years experience

  • Experience in a leadership/ management role
