This internship focuses on supporting data analysis, research, and reporting that help guide agency decisions within the Department of Corrections. You will work with administrative data and assist in creating tools, reports, and visualizations used across the bureau. As a Planning, Research and Statistics Intern, you will perform the following duties:
- Data Analysis: Analyze administrative and research data using SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
- Research Support: Prepare, interpret, and present information for research and evaluation projects
- Workforce Studies: Assist with staff retention research and workforce data analysis
- Dashboard Creation: Develop dashboards, reports, and other analytical products
- Project Assistance: Support additional analytics and evaluation tasks based on bureau priorities
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position,
- Hourly Rate: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $17.88 (before taxes).

Internship Requirement:
- Must be a current graduate student majoring in data science, economics, public policy, criminology, sociology, statistics, or a related field.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have strong quantitative research and data analysis skills.
- You must have strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Criteria:
- Experience with Power BI or other data analysis and visualization tools
- Experience with SQL and Excel
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
