This position focuses on completing detailed furlough investigations and supporting the safe transition of reentrants returning to their communities. As a Field Investigator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Criminal Checks: Conduct criminal records checks and maintain certification needed for investigative work
  • Case Review: Examine furlough requests with staff and assign case numbers while keeping accurate logs
  • Report Preparation: Prepare written reports that document findings and provide recommendations on furlough suitability
  • Information Management: Maintain case files, update records, and send required notices to courts and partner agencies
  • Risk Assessment: Contact individuals outlined in policy to gather concerns and identify issues that may affect furlough decisions
  • Issue Reporting: Report suspicious or non-compliant behaviors and policy violations to supervisors or designated staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week, with approval, once your training period has been completed. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.   • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in public contact work, including two years of experience in field investigation or law enforcement work; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement: 
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
