This position centers on learning the skills needed to provide daily care and support for residents at the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home. You will gain both classroom and hands-on training to become fully prepared for this important role. As an Aide Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

  • Training Participation: Attend online, classroom, orientation, and on-the-job training to develop skills for resident care and prepare for promotion to Nurse Aide
  • Resident Support: Assist residents with basic needs, mobility, and daily activities
  • Safety Maintenance: Maintain clean, organized, and safe environments throughout resident areas
  • Equipment Care: Clean and prepare medical and mobility equipment as needed
  • Documentation Tasks: Record resident information through written and electronic systems
  • Meal Assistance: Distribute trays, encourage eating, and participate with feeding assistance under supervision

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a GED or a high school diploma.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
