UPMC Mercy is hiring a Full Time Group Leader Plumber to support our facility!
This position will work Monday-Friday from 7am-3:30pm.
Purpose:
The group leader is responsible for coordinating, assigning, and overseeing daily maintenance operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. This role provides leadership and technical guidance to maintenance personnel while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, CMS work orders, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, prioritize, assign, and monitor daily work assignments to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of plumbing activities.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and support to maintenance personnel
- Conduct field inspections to assure quality of work, safety, and compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Ex:(I.C.R.A)
- Participate in departmental meetings, safety initiatives, regulatory inspections throughout the hospital.
- Perform skilled maintenance work as needed to support departmental operations.
- Participate in rotating on-call, weekend and emergency response.
- Fill in weekly scheduling for plumbing dept.
- Serve as the primary liaison between plumbing dept and management by providing plumbing dept with the latest and up to date U.P.M.C. policies and procedures.
- Ensuring departmental goals are achieved with effective communication between shops with ongoing projects.
- Coordinate, schedule and oversee vendors/outside contractors that have ongoing contracts throughout the year.
- Proactively, plan and coordinate the procurement of parts materials, and equipment required for upcoming projects and preventive maintenance activities to ensure work is completed efficiently and on schedule.
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Trade or vocational school graduate required.
- Successful completion of education requirements for the trade(s) for which he/she is responsible.
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a hospital is preferred. This experience must include the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of:
- Fire Suppression & sprinkler systems
- Water Management procedures & protocols
- Kitchen Equipment & Dept of Health compliance
- Medical gas distribution & regulatory requirements
- Waste & water utilities servicing all on-campus buildings
- Working knowledge of computerized work order systems, including the ability to navigate, update and complete work orders with accurate documentation.
- Must possess the ability to move throughout the facility's various buildings, roofs, tunnels and confined spaces.
- Must possess the ability and knowledge to operate and maintain power equipment/tools, both stationary and portable, pertaining to the maintenance field.
- Must be able to perform all forms of appropriate maintenance work or repairs on various forms of ladders, scaffolds, man-lifts, and safety equipment to complete work assignments at extreme heights.
- Must be familiar with applicable local, state and federal codes.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Journeyman’s license or 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a hospital.
- ASSE Plumbing backflow license preferred
- I.C.R.A. training preferred
- Valid PA driver’s license
- Act 34 criminal clearance
