The University of Pittsburgh department of Medicine Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a Research Project Coordinator. The employee will oversee the daily coordination of 1-2 large funded projects, and will also perform recruitment of participants for research studies in concussion research.

Conducts research assessments on study participants. Assists with and adheres to Institutional Review Board (IRB) renewal, modification, and approved protocols. Assists with training staff. Ensures adherence to protocols and corrects issues with data collection.

The main tasks include: Position will oversee the daily coordination of 1-2 large funded research project as the lead coordinator as well as assist with additional smaller research studies within the lab. This individual will interact with an interdisciplinary team to implement and conduct research within the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program. Position will also be responsible for the preparation, submission and maintenance of IRB protocols for assigned studies, including HRPO (military) submissions. This position will assist in daily tasks necessary to carry out current research protocols including, recruitment, informed consent process, administering research procedures and neurocognitive testing, data collection, data management and participant payment processes. The Research Project Coordinator will also be required to participate in staff and study related meetings. The Research Project Coordinator will interact with internal and external collaborators and funders and have exemplary communication and problem-solving skills in order to effectively coordinate assigned Concussion Program studies. Must be able to coordinate multiple large studies at one time, multi-task, find solutions to problems that arise in a timely and efficient manner and be confident to work in a dynamic and fast paced research setting.

The candidate must be able to walk. The facility is in a distributed environment, and to perform the concussion research protocols, the incumbent must be able to move around freely. The incumbent must be able to escort patients from the waiting area to the study center, which will require walking from various locations.
