This is a unique opportunity in a specialized role within the pharmacy that works in collaboration with nurses, prescribers, case managers, social workers and pharmacists to support medication transitions for patients discharging from the hospital.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of $5,000 for a 2-year work commitment!
Responsibilities:
Filling
- Assist in filling medication orders and preparing oral/injectable medications, including hazardous drugs.
Distribution
- Distribute medications, retrieve discontinued ones, and maintain service relationships.
Investigational
- Handle procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational drugs.
General
- Communicate with hospital personnel, ensure safe storage of medications, maintain a clean work environment, use computer skills for patient records, and comply with regulations.
- Manage inventory, update automated stations, and assist in training.
Controlled Substances
- Maintain and audit controlled substance records, ensuring compliance.
Additional Duties
- Perform other assigned duties and adhere to system-wide competencies.
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following:
Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience required
Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System
Enrollment in a college program and in good standing

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PA State Board of Pharmacy Registration required for all PA locations; If working in a New York facility, must have received certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy program (CPhT) and be registered with the New York State Board of Pharmacy.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
