Job Title: Structural Engineering Professional (Associate / Licensed PE)
Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has opened for a licensed, analytical, and motivated Structural Engineering Professional (Associate) to join our growing design team. In this role, you will perform a significant portion of structural analysis and design for complex projects, collaborating closely with structural leads, project managers, BIM designers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
This is a senior-individual contributor and emerging leadership role requiring a solid foundation in structural fundamentals, advanced seismic and lateral design, and steel/concrete structures. You will take complete ownership of your project scopes, ensure rigorous quality control, check peer calculations, and help mentor junior engineers and drafters. If you excel at independent problem-solving and want to drive engineering excellence in a collaborative practice, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Analysis & Design
Engineering Execution: Independently evaluate, select, and adapt engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform conventional and complex structural designs.
Code Compliance: Apply building code provisions (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC) to the design and analysis of traditional steel and concrete structural systems.
Lateral & Seismic Design: Execute advanced lateral analysis and design, incorporating comprehensive wind and seismic provisions.
Quality Control & Technical Mentorship
Peer Review & Checking: Maintain a high standard of quality control by thoroughly self-checking work and performing independent calculation checks for fellow engineers.
Technical Guidance: Provide coaching, technical direction, and mentorship to junior engineers, designers, and drafters.
Workflow Innovation: Proactively advance engineering workflows, internal systems, and design tools, embracing emerging technologies to optimize efficiency.
Project Ownership & Execution
Scope Accountability: Take complete ownership of assigned structural scopes-reliably managing time to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Change Management: Identify scope changes, forecast required levels of effort, and communicate proactively with structural leads.
Multi-Disciplinary Coordination: Partner seamlessly with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil teams to translate structural requirements into accurate construction documents and BIM models.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
Certifications: Active Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
Experience Baseline: Minimum of 4+ years of professional structural engineering experience.
Technical Mastery:
oComprehensive working knowledge of US building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
oHands-on experience with structural engineering analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
oProven background designing and analyzing traditional steel and reinforced concrete structures.
Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal abilities; proven aptitude for technical leadership and team collaboration.
Working Conditions: Remote/hybrid arrangement requiring reliable home internet connectivity; ability to perform periodic field walks (including climbing ladders, accessing raised floors, or standing for extended periods) when required.
Preferred Attributes
Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) or a dedicated Master's in Structural Engineering.
Prior experience designing structures for specialized industrial, manufacturing, or advanced technology facilities.
Documented experience leading small project teams or mentoring junior technical staff.
