UPMC Rooney Sports Complex is seeking a motivated MRI Tech Assistant to join our dynamic imaging team! This is a great opportunity to grow your skills while working in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment that supports high-quality diagnostic imaging.

Schedule: Three 13-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 8:00 PM), including every other weekend and holiday rotation.

As an MRI Tech Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting MRI technologists, ensuring smooth department operations, and helping create a comfortable and positive experience for patients throughout their imaging visit. Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist patients upon arrival to the department

  • Prepare patient paperwork, documentation, and answer calls related to scheduling, questions, and patient history

  • Escort patients to dressing areas and assist as needed

  • Perform MRI safety screening according to established procedures and provide completed forms to the technologist for review

  • Assist with lifting and transferring patients to and from exam tables when necessary

  • Establish IV access for contrast administration following department procedures

  • Assist technologists with preparing oral contrast and providing patient instructions

  • Support proper patient positioning, padding, and alignment for imaging under technologist direction

  • Perform telemetry monitoring during exams when applicable and provide patient care support as needed

  • Provide discharge instructions as directed by the technologist

  • Report equipment malfunctions to technologists and supervisors

  • Assist with daily and weekly quality control (QC) procedures according to departmental guidelines

  • Transport patients to and from the unit as required

  • Clean and prepare exam rooms following established protocols

  • Completion of High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Requires Clerical and computer experience. 
  • Requires Communication and interpersonal skills.
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
