This role manages the medical records operations for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands and supports the daily duties of the medical records unit. It ensures that documentation is accurate, complete, and handled according to policy and standards. As a Medical Records Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Supervisory Leadership: Manage staff assignments and guide daily workflow
  • Record System Oversight: Maintain and monitor an integrated health record system for accuracy and compliance
  • Record Processing: File, issue, and transfer medical records in line with confidentiality rules and regulations
  • Quality Review: Examine records for completeness and refer issues to medical staff for correction
  • Report Preparation: Compile periodic statistical reports to support evaluations and reviews
  • Process Improvement: Participate in quality assurance efforts to improve medical records procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program. 

Post Employment Requirement:

  • Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. 
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
