The Equipment Operator B position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Clear Creek Forest District, offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors and support essential forest projects. This role allows you to help maintain safe and accessible roads, trails, and facilities. You will contribute to the stewardship of state forest land while building valuable skills. This position supports the Clear Creek Forest District through skilled equipment operation, facility upkeep, and emergency response efforts. The role helps maintain forest infrastructure and supports activities that protect public safety and natural resources. As a Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy vehicles and machinery to construct, maintain, and improve roads, trails, and forest facilities
- Trail Maintenance: Clear vegetation, repair trail surfaces, and maintain boundary lines throughout the district
- Tool Care: Perform inspections, cleaning, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment and tools
- Facility Upkeep: Maintain signage, clean comfort stations, and inspect and repair deer exclosure fencing
- Emergency Support: Assist with search and rescue efforts, wildfire suppression activities, and required emergency training
- Resource Assistance: Support forest and wildlife management tasks such as erosion control, surveying, planting, pruning, and signage work

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Seasonal, full-time employment with no health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
Work hours will be between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. Specifics about work schedules, including the possibility of an alternate work schedule, will be discussed during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more: or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
