This position helps protect highway safety by evaluating driving ability, checking identification documents, and assisting customers at the Driver License Center. As a Driver License Examiner w/CDL, you will perform the following duties:
- Applicant Testing: Perform driving, vision, and knowledge exams for commercial and noncommercial applicants
- Identity Verification: Review identification documents and check systems to confirm authenticity and detect fraud
- Vehicle Checks: Inspect vehicle safety features and determine which tests are appropriate
- Product Issuance: Process results, issue license products, and give information on renewals and transfers
- Customer Communication: Explain procedures, test results, and service options while following customer service rules
- Regulation Compliance: Follow REAL ID rules, fee waiver guidelines, Title VI requirements, and safety procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires an active Pennsylvania Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
