Maintenance Repairman 1

As a Maintenance Repairman 1 for the Department of Transportation, Butler County Maintenance Organization, you will take pride in keeping buildings and grounds safe and functional. This position allows you to learn a variety of trades and tackle different tasks throughout the week. You will support a team that relies on your hard work and attention to detail. This position provides custodial support, basic repairs, and grounds upkeep to maintain clean, safe, and efficient facilities. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Custodial Tasks: Perform cleaning duties including floors, furniture, lavatories, and trash removal
• Grounds Care: Maintain outdoor areas through mowing, raking, landscaping, and snow removal
• Basic Repairs: Make simple fixes using carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tools
• Equipment Use: Operate and maintain hand tools, motorized tools, and assigned equipment
• Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and use protective equipment
• Work Support: Assist skilled workers, run errands, and complete tasks as directed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. 
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
