As a Maintenance Repairman 2 for the Department of Transportation, Butler County Maintenance Organization, you will take on important projects that keep roads and structures safe. This role allows you to grow your expertise in multiple trades while supporting essential maintenance operations. You will be part of a dependable crew that works together to solve problems and complete projects. It is an ideal fit for someone who likes variety, responsibility, and working with tools and materials.


This position performs skilled work on concrete forms, stone structures, wooden partitions, and other structural features while supporting safe and efficient maintenance operations. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Skilled Trades: Measure, cut, fit and construct concrete forms, and wooden structures
  • Concrete Work: Mix, place and finish concrete for walls, culverts, and similar structures
  • Stone Masonry: Cut, fit, grout, and point stone for required maintenance projects
  • Tool Operation: Use hand tools and motorized equipment to complete assigned work
  • Safety Awareness: Follow safety rules, report hazards and maintain a safe work environment
  • Crew Support: Assist coworkers, operate vehicles, and complete tasks as directed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. 
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
