This position focuses on providing daily hands-on care and support to residents while helping maintain a safe and organized environment at the Southeastern Veterans' Center. You assist with personal care, comfort, mobility, and routine tasks that support each resident’s well-being. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Resident Support: Assist residents with bathing, grooming, toileting, transfers, and meal activities in accordance with their care plans
  • Care Monitoring: Observe and report changes in resident conditions and participate in care discussions during team meetings and shift reports
  • Safety Assistance: Apply safety devices, gather vital sign data, help maintain clean and organized rooms, and monitor areas for potential hazards
  • Mobility Help: Transport residents by wheelchair, stretcher, or geri chair and escort them to outside appointments as needed
  • Documentation Duties: Record care and services on required forms to meet regulatory and State Veterans Home (SVH) standards
  • Environmental Tasks: Change linens, collect and dispose of waste, restock supplies, and help maintain tidy and comfortable rooms

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, four 10-hour days, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (5:00 AM to 3:30 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating weekends and holidays.
  • Overtime as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. 
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania's veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: 

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
