Position Summary
This position reports to the Field Maintenance Manager and is responsible for providing support with the processes governing polling place locations and the adequate equipment needed throughout the County while also ensuring compliance of accessibility.
Duties
- Field telephone inquiries from the public: e.g. voters, candidates and political party representatives, relative to polling place locations.
- Verify polling place locations and coordinate changes as needed.
- Perform onsite visits to determine functionality and accessibility of a poll.
- Maintain contact information for polling places.
- Correspond with polling place contacts via phone, email, in writing, or in-person.
- Assists in scheduling equipment and supply deliveries to polling locations.
- Maintain inventory records for relevant equipment: e.g. ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) supplies, ADA compliance and PPC (Polling Place Coordinator) checklists, tables, machines.
- Assists in ensuring polling places have the appropriate furniture, restroom facilities, and are universally accessible.
- Escalate operational issues to the Field Maintenance Manager as necessary.
- Track polling place issues and ensure corrective actions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Accessibility compliance.
- GIS mapping software.
- Election procedures.
Skills
- Microsoft Office applications: e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Understand polling place locations and voting machine processes.

- Lift up to 40 pounds.
- Use palette jack.
- Travel within Allegheny County as required.
- Drive a conversion van or large SUV.
- Work overtime during election cycles as needed.
- Meet strict deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of clerical work experience and the possession and maintenance of a valid PA drivers’ license.
- Familiarity with the election process, polling place locations, and prior warehouse work experience are preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status.
Residency
Allegheny County within 1 year.
