API Test Engineer

We are seeking an experienced API Test Engineer to support the development and enhancement of a complex, high-visibility data-processing platform. This role will focus on validating mission-critical system integrations and end-to-end data workflows through a combination of manual and automated testing. The ideal candidate has strong API testing experience, a passion for quality engineering, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, regression, and performance test cases.
- Perform positive, negative, boundary, and error-handling testing for REST APIs and system integrations.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts, with a strong emphasis on Python-based automation.
- Validate end-to-end workflows involving APIs, SFTP file transfers, database updates, and system-generated outputs.
- Analyze data movement across multiple systems and ensure accuracy throughout the process.
- Validate JSON request/response payloads, headers, and HTTP status codes.
- Identify, document, and troubleshoot defects while collaborating with development teams to drive resolution.
- Support continuous quality initiatives and help expand automation coverage over time.
- 5+ years of software quality engineering or testing experience (strong candidates with 3-4 years may be considered).
- Hands-on experience with API testing and application integrations.
- Experience creating and executing test cases independently.
- Proficiency with Python scripting and SQL/database validation.
- Strong understanding of HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), status codes, and JSON request/response structures.
- Experience validating end-to-end system workflows and data processing.

- Experience building or maintaining automation frameworks.
- Exposure to CI/CD environments and automated testing pipelines.
