The Clerical Assistant 2 position with the Department of Transportation gives you the chance to support a busy maintenance office and help customers every day. This role keeps the office running smoothly while connecting people with the information and services that they need. This role supports the Crawford County Maintenance office by carrying out clerical, customer service, and administrative tasks that support daily operations. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Front Office Support: Provide receptionist services, greet visitors, direct inquiries, and maintain visitor logs
  • Customer Processing: Enter complaints, assist with tort claims, prepare correspondence, and distribute applications
  • Mail and Supplies: Sort and distribute mail, manage outgoing postage, stock supplies, and route faxes and print jobs
  • Payment Handling: Receive hauling permit payments, complete logs, and send payments to the district permit unit
  • Payroll Assistance: Help with garage payroll input, file leave slips, and assist the timekeeper as needed
  • Record Management: Maintain files, update retention logs, and prepare stale-dated records for storage

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • One year or more of previous employment in the clerical field.
  • One year or more of experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • One year or more of experience in office work such as Scheduling and Coordinating events, meetings and or Trainings.
  • Two years or more of customer service background (answering incoming telephone calls, re-routing class as a switchboard operator or speaking with customers and/or employees that come into the office)
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
