This position will support an NIH-funded Center grant investigating the relationships among sleep, circadian rhythms, brain function, mood, and behavior in adolescents. The Research Specialist will assist with a variety of research activities, including behavioral assessments, fMRI data collection, biospecimen collection and processing, data entry and management, and direct interaction with adolescent participants during study visits. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory operations and supporting ongoing research activities.
The Research Specialist will collaborate closely with the study coordinator, research team members, and staff within the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center and the Magnetic Resonance Research Center. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated teamwork, reliability, adaptability, and leadership abilities.
This role requires a flexible work schedule that includes Thursday through Monday, evening and weekend hours, and availability during University of Pittsburgh academic breaks, including summer break.This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
- Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
