The Health Sciences Library System (HSLS) at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a dynamic, highly organized, and technically proficient Information Technology Project Manager for a term-limited, 12-month project-based position. This fixed-duration role is established specifically to lead a comprehensive, large-scale redesign of the library’s flagship digital ecosystem, hsls.pitt.edu, guiding the initiative from initial planning through full execution within the 12-month timeframe. The successful candidate will serve as the primary Strategy Lead, Stakeholder Liaison and Project Manager for the project.
Manages multiple large and more complex technical projects from idea through execution. Supervises all project parameters; documents user stories and functional requirements. Trains and assists lower-level project managers.
• Serve as the primary point of contact and project manager coordinating efforts between the Associate Director for Digital Library Services, internal HSLS development and systems team and the Office of Communications (Pantheon)
• Establish, monitor, and support transition planning and project workflows using advanced project management and knowledge-base systems
• Establish, track, and maintain the project roadmap, milestones, and deliverables including end user reports, SME input, and discovery documentation.
• Lead collaborative workshops, user feedback initiatives, and stakeholder alignment retrospectives to systematically uncover user requirements and address challenges
• Facilitate stakeholder interviews and alignment workshops across various HSLS departments such as HSLS Molecular Biology Information Service, Data Services Evidence Synthesis, Liaison Services and Learn@HSLS
• Synthesize user requirements and data insights through rigorous web experience evaluation, user feedback tracking, and coordinated usability testing
• Design and execute user research studies such as surveys, user interviews, card sorting, and moderated usability testing targeting faculty, researchers, students, and clinicians
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in an academic health sciences library or national network infrastructure environment, showcasing progressive responsibility and direct involvement in large-scale web redesign or digital migration initiatives
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders on projects of significant scope, scale, and complexity, within a defined timeline
• Proven ability to manage the full lifecycle of a large, complex project, from planning and requirements gathering through execution, testing, and deployment, within a defined timeline
Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Little physical effort is required. Duties are primarily sedentary.
