Directs day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Develops moderately complex projects and procedures independently. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions. Collaborates to write grant applications and manuscripts.

MAINTENANCE OF LAB OPERATIONS:
As part of your position, you will be a central and key person for the Sahni lab upkeep, maintenance, and day-to-day operations:

•    Maintaining the lab set up, including assistance with lab equipment installation and equipment upkeep.
•    Maintaining lab supplies and ordering reagents.
•    Maintaining lab compliance (IBC, Lab safety protocols, animal protocols). Along with the PI, you will be the lead point of contact for these and other maintenance issues.

STANDARD LABORATORY TECHNIQUES:

Further, as part of your position you will be expected to carry out essential research support functions in the laboratory conducting work primarily focused on mouse genetics, molecular biology and tissue analysis, as well as mouse behavior, and cell culture. These standard functions include, but are not limited to:

•    Working with transgenic mouse lines and performing mouse surgical procedures.
•    Wide range of basic molecular biology experiments (such as PCR, cloning, etc.) 
•    Working with viral vectors for gene delivery
•    Preparing tissue for analysis and performing microscopy. 
•    Performing standard laboratory experimental tests and procedures such as preparing complex chemical solutions and media.
•    Maintaining experimental matter, requiring knowledge of laboratory techniques.
•    Recording results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques.
 

Must be able to lift 15lbs.
