Chatham University is accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty of Dance to teach DAN101: World of Dance.
The course description:
This class explores the multitude of dance forms around the world via lectures, readings, films, and live performances. It approaches movement as a means of expressing the spirit and performing ritual, interacting socially and embodying cultural mores, and creating art. It looks at how new forms of dance are evolving as cultures fuse and technology opens up new venues.
This class will meet on Wednesdays from 6 PM to 8:30 PM in the fall semester.
The Dance Minor at Chatham University provides students with foundational courses in dance technique as well as history and performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching DAN101: World of Dance.
- Holding regular office hours and maintaining professional communication with students.
- Consulting and collaborating with other faculty to align with departmental teaching needs.
- Participating in departmental events and university trainings for adjunct faculty.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an MFA or Ph.D. in Dance or closely related field OR extensive work experience in the field required.
- Candidates with a combination of academic and practical experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
- ABD-Ph.D. candidates are encouraged to apply.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching and mentoring at a college level preferred.
- Experience working with/teaching diverse groups/diverse students is desirable.
