Miyashita & O’Steen, LLLC, a Hawaii-based plaintiffs’ personal-injury firm, is seeking a highly motivated full-time, fully remote Paralegal with personal injury experience to join our growing team. We handle a broad range of cases, including motor-vehicle collisions, premises liability, product-defect matters, civil-rights–related injury cases, and complex litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Managing personal-injury cases through the pre-suit process from intake through settlement or litigation
  • Working up cases by gathering, organizing, and reviewing medical records, medical bills, evidence, damages documentation, and other supporting materials
  • Drafting comprehensive settlement demands, pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Identifying, tracking, managing, negotiating, and resolving medical liens, insurance liens, and other reimbursement claims
  • Managing case files, exhibits, and medical records
  • Monitoring statutes of limitation, case deadlines, calendars, and follow-up tasks
  • Assisting with discovery responses, deposition prep, and trial preparation
  • Communicating with clients, providers, insurers, lienholders and experts
  • Providing high-accuracy, detail-oriented support to attorneys throughout the pre-suit and litigation phases of each case

Qualifications

  • Personal injury experience required
  • Strong pre-suit experience, including independently working up personal-injury cases
  • Demonstrated experience drafting settlement demands
  • Experience identifying, managing, negotiating, and resolving liens
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization, time-management, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases, deadlines, follow-up tasks, and competing responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Commitment to client service and high-quality legal work
  • Proactive, dependable, and able to move cases forward efficiently with limited supervision
