UPMC Travel Staffing is seeking full-time, permanent RNs with Medical Surgical and Emergency Department experience to join our internal travel staffing team.

As a UPMC System Float Nurse, you will rotate to a new UPMC facility approximately every six weeks, giving you the opportunity to provide care across Pennsylvania, New York, and Western Maryland while expanding your clinical skills and professional network.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care in assigned UPMC facilities and units.

  • Rotate assignments approximately every six weeks, with the potential to redeploy to another facility for mid-assignment based on operational needs.

  • Apply strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills in all aspects of patient care.

  • Communicate patient status and changes clearly with physicians and members of the healthcare team.

  • Follow all hospital policies, procedures, patient safety standards, infection control practices, and confidentiality requirements.

  • Build effective working relationships across diverse clinical environments and care teams.

  • Participate in patient education, discharge planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing professional development.

  • Demonstrated competence in professional nursing practices.

  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required. 

  • Relevant experience in Medical Surgical or Emergency Department required based on assignment needs. 

  • Step-Down experience preferred for Medical Surgical role. 

  • Must be able to pass all UPMC-required testing for Registered Nurses.

  • Must work 36 hours per week. 72 hours in a bi-weekly pay period, including day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.

  • Must be willing and able to report to work at UPMC facilities across Pennsylvania, New York, and Western Maryland. 

  • Cerner or Epic electronic health record experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

  • BLS/CPR is required. NIH/NIHSS required within 60 days of hire.

  • RN license required; PA RN license required upon hire.

  • Second state license, New York or Maryland, required within six months of hire.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for Emergency Department roles and preferred for Medical Surgical roles.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required for Emergency Department role). Upon offer acceptance and before start date, required clearances incuded OAPSA, Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33 Child Clearance, Act 34 Criminal Clearance and Act 73 FBI Clearances with renewals.
